linking verb construction and the nominative case

Today I someone corrected my use of grammar at work becasue he or she thought it sounded funny. I wrote, "It will be I or x (person)who will be your x,y,z.." It is my understadning that a linking verb uses the nominative case. I was told to use "myself or X", but I don't think the reflexive case should be used in this manner. Am I correct?

Thanks,
Dan

Re: linking verb construction and the nominative case

If you disect this sentence, it helps provide the answer:

It will be I and x

who will be your x,y,z.

In both cases, I have highlighted the subject of each clause.

If you think "It is I" is correct, then your version is right. If not (and I suggest not), then you should use "It will be me and x".

Good question
