This forum has a long history, by interent standards anyway-unfortunately it has been abandoned for far too long due to real life circumstances knocking the heck out of what had been my very real desire to keep this board alive and well forever so that all of us could meet here and communicate with each other everyday.

I'm not sure that a forum like this is even needed nowadays since the advent of facebook, etc...but I hope that this once thriving BB does bring some of us back together again and that maybe some new folks will join us as well!

Iraq: 1,300 men mutinied or wouldn't fight

BAGHDAD - The Iraqi government has dismissed about 1,300 soldiers and policemen who deserted or refused to fight during last month’s offensive against Shiite militias and criminal gangs in Basra, officials said Sunday.

Interior Ministry spokesman Maj. Gen. Abdul-Karim Khalaf said 921 police and soldiers were fired in Basra. They included 37 senior police officers ranging in rank from lieutenant colonel to brigadier general.

Re: Iraq: 1,300 men mutinied or wouldn't fight

Not the first time in history soldiers have deserted. When i was in fort Lewis july of 1966 . That was when the word came down the 4th div was going to Vietnam. There were 4 or five deserted from the 3/8 (if i remember correctly). Fort lewis being so close to Canada they probably stayed until Jimmy KAAA TAH pardoned all deserters and draft dodgers so they could vote democrat.

Guess that they were not as rich as "Old De-ferrr-ment Dick Cheney"...

BTW-
I think that in a Math Class I had once, I learned that 4 or 5 is considerably smaller than 1300.

No wonder the republicans can't get the VA Budget right, using that kind of math.
