This forum has a long history, by interent standards anyway-unfortunately it has been abandoned for far too long due to real life circumstances knocking the heck out of what had been my very real desire to keep this board alive and well forever so that all of us could meet here and communicate with each other everyday.

I'm not sure that a forum like this is even needed nowadays since the advent of facebook, etc...but I hope that this once thriving BB does bring some of us back together again and that maybe some new folks will join us as well!

So Sarah Palin is actually a socialist! Who would have thunk it?

You have to give Palin credit, she can look folks in the eye and lie and treat them as stupid with the best of them. Here she is running around the country calling Obama a socialist when she really actually has been acting as a socialist governor.

This is Palin from a recent interview in the New Yorker magazine:

"And Alaska—we’re set up, unlike other states in the union, where it’s collectively Alaskans own the resources. So we share in the wealth when the development of these resources occurs.”...
It’s to maximize benefits for Alaskans, not an individual company, not some multinational somewhere, but for Alaskans.”

That is ****ed near a textbook definition of socialism. What a fraud this woman is! But why not, look which party she is working for.

Alaska residents will get annual oil royalty dividend of $1,654 each

The Associated PressPublished: September 19, 2007

JUNEAU, Alaska: Nearly every Alaskan will soon receive a check for $1,654 their share of the state's oil riches, Alaska Governor Sarah Palin announced.

The dividend checks are derived from the state's oil royalty investment program and distributed each year to eligible residents — just for living here for a full calendar year.

Slightly more than 600,000 men, women and children in 248 communities will receive the dividend this year, according to the Revenue Department. The state's estimated population is just over 670,000 people.

Anyone who has lived in Alaska for a full calendar year can apply for the money — including children. Of those receiving checks this year, about 41 percent — or 244,695 of the state's residents — were born in Alaska.

"I want you guys to invest this wisely," Palin told the large crowd that gathered Wednesday for the announcement of this year's dividend in Valdez, the terminus of the state's 800-mile (1,287-kilometer) trans-Alaska oil pipeline.

It is a perk that separates Alaska from the rest of the U.S.

Re: So Sarah Palin is actually a socialist! Who would have thunk it?

Could it be that Every other Oil Producing State in the Union Will Be wanting the same Deal that Alaska is getting.

I think that by the end of next year the Royaltees just might be 37% instead of the 18.5 percent paid by the Oil Compainies.

Guess we will wait and see.

Re: So Sarah Palin is actually a socialist! Who would have thunk it?

Jaqui you just showed how little you know about things. The state of alaska people of alaska own the mineral rights in the state. This is the same as the province of alberta in canada. Alberta has the same program the residents share in the wealth that is created by developing those resources, It is not solaism. as i sadi it belongs to the people. in most places the mineral rights were part of the surface rights.whoever own the surface also owned the minerals if any were there.

Re: So Sarah Palin is actually a socialist! Who would have thunk it?

Wait, wait, wait, Quano. I need to get this straight - you are citing Canada as something that is not socialist? You know that they have universal health care, right?

So you are saying that "spread the wealth around" is only a bad phrase if it is uttered by a liberal, right? Having an extreme right winger say it makes it ok.

I got it. IOKIYAAR - Its okay if you are a republican.

Re: So Sarah Palin is actually a socialist! Who would have thunk it?

Well Sh-it, than what do we need the Oil Companies for! maybe the States can kick all oil companies out and completely run the show themselves! I say send all those Blood suckers to China and then we can "Spread the Wealth Around" just like Them "Up In Alaska" are doing.

SPREAD THE WEALTH AROUND! Its ok to say it now, Duane said so!

Re: So Sarah Palin is actually a socialist! Who would have thunk it?

No no jaqui you dont listen or cant comprehend what you read. I'll try again. when the province of Alberta was created in 1905 the mineral rights were reserved for the province . I-E the people of the province. Alaska did the same thing when it became a state. The mineral rights belong to the people and are utilised for the benefit of the state and province. There is nothing socialist about it. Out here in the west a good part of the land is owned by the states and the federal govt . Public lands. For the benefit of the people. so there is nothing socialistic about it. Most of the land in this country is privately owned and the mineral rights belong to the holder of the surface rights. But the mineral rights can be seperate from the surface. This is quite long but that is how it works.

Re: So Sarah Palin is actually a socialist! Who would have thunk it?

Ah, Quano, yanking your chain is so easy that it stops being fun.

Unfortunately, here in the lower 48, your republican buddies have given away nearly all of our rights to our Federal public lands.

And my point stands - people can use the term spread the wealth around without it having any kind of socialist connection.

Re: So Sarah Palin is actually a socialist! Who would have thunk it?

and I thought that this was America's oil, where is my check?

Re: So Sarah Palin is actually a socialist! Who would have thunk it?

Jaqui you are drenching yourself in the efeminate perfume so that your brain or what little is left since you have been scratching your ass.
When have you been denied access to public parks anywhere in the United states. Yellowstone Glacier the Grand Canyon.Name them? Just like how ,many of your rights or anyone elses rights have been been stolen you cant answer because it has never happened.
Out here in the west lots of the public lands have been leased to farmers cattlemen. the revenue going to the public coffers. It has been that way all of the time. Mike ivy unless you own mineral rights under private land you get no money for those rights if you do own rights under private lan you do . in the form of royaltys or dividends. with Public lands the royaltys- dividends go the treasury. now husssien obama wants to spread the wealth the homes of private individuals. but not his own not Bin bidens not hanoi johns not killer kennedys not oprahs not tiger wiids not al sharptons. maybe jesse Jackseon because ol jesse wants to de nut the One, and i say go jesse go. jesse can have them with his eggs for breakfast

Re: So Sarah Palin is actually a socialist! Who would have thunk it?

Hopefully Jack has some of that "efeminate perfume" Duanes talking about to spread over the Horse-Sh-it post Duane just made thats really stinking up the place!

Smells so Republican!

Re: So Sarah Palin is actually a socialist! Who would have thunk it?

Jinks, unfortunately, I lost my sense of smell in an accident when I was a kid so I wouldn't be able to tell the difference between effiminate perfumes and any other kins - are there other kinds? Quano, however, seems to know something about them, hmm....

Quano almost makes my point - large chunks of public lands have been leased for private use at ridiculously low rates. Not only to ranchers, but also to lumber companies, mining companies, oil companies, etc. They make tons of money of which the American people receive almost nothing.

Re: So Sarah Palin is actually a socialist! Who would have thunk it?

Lost your sense of smell? No wonder you were able to stand two tours in The 'Nam

Re: So Sarah Palin is actually a socialist! Who would have thunk it?

In a way jack is lucky to loose that sense of smell.

At least he doesn't have to smell all the total Republican Bull Sh-it that Duane keeps posting over and over!

Re: So Sarah Palin is actually a socialist! Who would have thunk it?

Bill, based on the faces of other Americans when exposed to it, I will definitely say that having no sense of smell helped with dealing with Nuc Mam. Probably with lots of other stuff that I never knew about.

And Jinks, you are sooooooo right, bro.

Re: So Sarah Palin is actually a socialist! Who would have thunk it?

no jaqui and the rest of you . The lands are leqsed to private concerns at the going rate for leased lands . the leasee is responsnible for the fencing devlopment of water sources in the cases of livestock use, When land is leased for lumber it is the same the companys hiren men to do the work and they comply with all the regulations. Likewise for farming. the land is cared for rasther than let it grow into weeds and scrub brush. Those people who lease these lands want to keep using those lands.
Mow you guys want a kind of communist upopia where no one works except for the benefit of THE ONE.

Re: So Sarah Palin is actually a socialist! Who would have thunk it?

BS, Quano. I do not doubt that the lands are leased "at the going rates", but the going rates flat out cheat America and they always have. And the people leasing the land treat it as if it was theirs.

Re: So Sarah Palin is actually a socialist! Who would have thunk it?

jaqui you dont know a goddamed thing about what the people leasing public lands pay. You have never been in thses public lands in Montana wyoming nost of these lands are relitively poor quality very little grass.
All public lands are leaesed for a specified period of time then reopened to bids. Come on out here to montana and you can bid on lands that will carry one or two animal units . You are free to bid 3-4 thousand dollars a year for the right to run one or two animal units . So you can loose your ass.

Re: So Sarah Palin is actually a socialist! Who would have thunk it?

Yep Jack go ahead and bid.

I hear Montana is still excepting Beads and Shiny Rocks until they switch over to US Currency.

While your out there you think you could get some pictures of those Cows that Duane talks about that are haply scratching their A$$es on the Oil Drilling Rigs, Complete with Butterflies and birds singing under the bright Blue Sky "With God Bless American Oil Companies" Playing in the back ground.

Re: So Sarah Palin is actually a socialist! Who would have thunk it?

Quano, you truly have no idea what I know about almost anything, and you certainly don't know what I might know about public land leases. But just off the cuff, I would bet that I know more about the operations of the Bureau of Land Management than you do.

For sure, I know is Montana is just one small state with public lands and I know that, generally speaking, grazing leases are not only not the only western land leases, they aren't even anywhere near the most significant.

Re: So Sarah Palin is actually a socialist! Who would have thunk it?

The 2008 Dividend Amount is $3,269.00

Thata a huge jump from 2007, not bad.

No wonder Palin is pushing 'drill baby drill' The more oil the more dividents to each Alaskan who is a permenant resident for at least a year.

And where does this oil go? Not to the lower 48 states, but sold to Japan. Interesting
