Not sure if I've the wrong end of the stick, but has anyone heard of the passing of Jackie McLean ? (Apologies if misspelt) Thought I saw a news item on yahoo...? Is this the same who did the classic boogie tune 'Dr.Jackyl & Mr. Funk' ? And had made stuf on Blue Note ?
No your not wrong, Jackie Mclean died on Friday.
He played with amongst others, Miles Davis, Sonny Rollins, Charles Mingus & Art Blakey.
He was with Blue Note until 1968 & made some good albums, check out Jackie's Bag.
