radiation proctitis

I had 28 radiation treatments in Nov-Dec 2008 and seeding in Jan 2009. From the beginning of treatment for the next 8 months everything was pretty much as before treatment, therefore I thought I was one of the fortunates and had it made. Wrong, wrong. In Aug of 2009 I started having diarreah (7-8 bowel movements a day) all with urgency, blood in stool (From a few drops to a few ounces), frequent urination (most with urgency),and last but not least, decline in sex drive and weak erections when there was interest in sex.
Colonoscopy diagnosis was "Radiation Procititas". First time I had heard that term much less the ramifications that went along. Oncologist said it doesn't happen very often and I should take Imodium, fiber, try Viagra and drink plenty of water. Come back in 3-4 months. From my understand the damage to the colon/rectum is irreversable, with a prognosis of treat symptoms, live with it because there is no cure.
I would like a cure, is there anything else available to help me? Thanks for reading. Any reply will be appreciated.
