sinufix spray

On the Sinufix Spray box it has the standard do not take if pregnant or nursing. Anyone know why, I'm currently nursing and have a terrible head cold, I hate to take any of the ovc sprays and it's starting to feel like sinusitis (I don't want to take antibiotics if I can avoid it).

Thanks, Bonita

Re: sinufix spray

Dear Bonita,

You are correct, the directions on NaturalCare Products SinuFix nasal spray mist box states a warning of non-use if pregnant or nursing. However, studies published by Mayo Clinic and a most recent publication in the November/December of Annals of Family Medicine, essentially state, that antibiotics for sinusitis is worthless. Further, antibiotics maybe harmful to both you and your nursing baby.

In light of this information and the probability of your personal physician prescibing an antibiotic for sinusitis, I feel its ok for you to use SinuFix nasal spray as directed while nursing. You may obtain SinuFix nasal spray at select health food stores or call 1-800-475-9811.

All my best,

Dr. Bob Martin
