Good morning

Good morning all
Made it thru another weekend. Heading off to work in a few minutes. Weather looking beautiful here. Currently 68 and heading for 90 with beautiful clear skies and a nice bright moon.
Taking off early from work today to head south to El Paso. Cindy is flying back home from visiting daughter in Crosby. Helping them move to a new place.
Put a new rear tire on the C14 Saturday. This weekend I will be checking the valves. That will be an all day project, but at least it will then be good for about a year.
I put some info on the web page about the Enchanted Tour for this year, the first weekend in August. I am planning on retiring that Thursday, heading to Las Vegas and then heading to Hutto Sunday. Cindy and our goods should be moved there the weekend before.
Yall have a great day.

Re: Good morning

69/87 If a valve adjustment lasts a year or you, doesn't that mean 50,000 miles between adjustments?

Re: Good morning

You going to be close to Richard. I don't know why more motorcycles don't use hydraulic lifters like the Voyager. From what I read the GW aren't hard to check, they say at 32,000 miles, but the forums say one in a hundred might need adjusting.

I read somewhere that hydraulic lifters can't handle much more than about 7000 rpm. That rules out a lot of motorcycles.

Re: Hydraulic lifters

That makes sense, since the Voyager is red-lined at 7500rpm.

Re: Hydraulic lifters

On auto engines you have a lot heaver valve train, you have to have some really strong valve springs to take 7,000. The GW is red lined at 6,000. The expense of lifters might come into play, plus cam location, shims are a lot cheaper, I think most have shims.
