I have talked to several members and some have suggested we find different locations for our next VH or HCT. Not that the locations we use now are bad, expensive, etc. Just different scenery. Thought I would throw that out for any thoughts, recommendation, yes, no or?? I don't have a problem with where we are now. Maybe we need to have some "fresh scenery" maybe not. Your thoughts..
The problem has been finding a single place that can accommodate the RVers, tent campers, and those who want a cabin or motel room. That is the reason we have been staying at the same places.
That's true, originally. I have been looking at several other campgrounds and it seems, they have caught on. More now have cabins, RV and tent sites. I don't think it would hurt to explore possible other sites. Possibly lower cost.

Your experience is different from mine. I have not been able to find many with all three.
I agree with Pathfinder. However I struggle with looking forward to the "same old scenery" in future runs. I guess my focus is on the fellowship angle with others in the group. I don't know if there is an easy answer.

Since it is the HCT (Hill Country Tour), I think it should be in the hill country. We have had it in Fredericksburg, Llano, Mason, Junction and other locations in addition to Camp Wood and Kerrville.
As for same scenery, last time we had it in Junction, everyone skipped the second day's guided ride so they could ride the Three Sisters area (first day guided ride) a second time.
There is a new location in Medina under consideration for this year's HCT. If I recall correctly, David Dunn was tasked with determining the location.
VH was in Glen Rose a second consecutive year because many were unhappy with the place in Palestine and no one could find another suitable place with cabins, RV sites and tent sites.
HCT, Hill Country Tour, will stay in the Hill Country. DD is looking into another possible in the Hill Country. All I am saying is maybe there are other site that offer all three and it might be possible to find one that cost less and perhaps have more to offer. It doesn't hurt to look. I would bet there are other sites in Texas for VH. Again, not saying move, just be open to options.
Hopefully will have an answer by the weekend.
Even if it’s a repeat.
I am definitely open to new venues. I’ve looked into half a dozen but they either don’t have more than a few cabins, or none, or don’t allow tent camping. I’m open but know we have to nail it down pretty soon.
There is one near Medina that Pathfinder suggested. He and I were going to meet out there over Thanksgiving but I got sick and couldn’t go. After that, there just wasn’t any room in the schedule to look at it.

That was my experience prior to finding the place in Medina. There are one or more near Concan that have all three but they tend to be more expensive and are not as convenient for riding.

I'm certainly open to other locations for VH if we can find something suitable.
I know that you had changed the dates because of Sandra and myself, but it would be nice to have HCT starting on the 28th of April thru May 1. We are looking for another RV and hope to have one by then, but if not can either camp or rent a cabin.
Also, having some place to "explore" like we used to do would be nice, you know, the church tour, the winery tour, longhorn ranch, etc. And maybe start having our meeting on Friday night as some have to leave before Saturday evening to go home, it would be nice to have Rod at our meetings. Just saying,
So just curious, talking about RV sites, cabins, tent sites. How many of each do we need? If all that could or would, answer that question, maybe we could have a better understanding of what we need to look for. Just looking for more information to make better decisions. Thx.
As for VH, I am looking for different locations. Not saying we will change, just looking.
When Judy is with me, a cabin or motel is needed; while she prefers something with its own bath, she is OK with something like what is available in Kerrville. If I'm alone, a tent will do but if a cabin is available, I will usually use one.
