Weather

Boy! I leave town for a week in Pagosa Springs and you guys let the weather get out of hand. We had a great trip - my daughter and Son0in-law rode their bike down from Salt Lake City and my brother rode his down from Walla Walla, Wa. We had great weather for the entire time except for one small rain/hail storm at San Antonio Mtn between Antonito and Tres Piedras. Naturally we waited too long to put on our rain gear - it is always harder getting them on in the rain. Bagged six high mountain passes on the US160-50-550-149-160 ride. Makes a looong day, but worth the effort.

Granny goes in for her knee eplacement tomorrow so please keep her in your prayers.

Have a great day, stay safe and Keep the Rubber Side Down.

I had one "Not Too Close Encounter" with a couple of ELK. I had forgotten that you need to watch the bar ditches up there also. I was leading coming down from Wolf Creek Pass, came around a sharp blind corner, and there thay were, just ambling off the road. When you are used to looking for these small Texas Hill Country deer an ELK looks huge up close. Old Siolver's brakes are very effective when you really clamp down on them. I probably over re-acted, but seeing those ELK up close got the old adrelalin going. AND I DIDN'T EVEN GET A PICTURE = DARN!
