I went to San Angelo yesterday in the wake of Erin. I was told to come in the cage because it was still threatening bad rain BUT not a drop. By Sat evening, Erin was flooding people in Abilene TX. Angelo did get 6 " of rain, their lakes are filling. Abilene was suffering 7" of rain & that caused evacuations. Abilene's storm sewer system is a few cross streets that are lowered & consequently serve as the flood chute during a storm. Glad I missed that. At 7 a.m. this morning, it was 65 degrees, a slight SE breeze & about 10% humidity. Makes me miss West Tx
We had some heavy showers Friday and lots and lots and lots of humidity. That was about all we got out of the storms. I am glad we didn't get anymore rain, the drought is finally over. Unfortunately, the cactus and mesquite in my backyard are now taller than my head. When the desert gets rain here in Odessa, it goes crazy!!
I guess I shouldn't have been so grateful. Erin reformed Saturday night into Sunday over the western center of the state. We had some severe flooding in several communities and five drownings attributed to the storm. You may have seen the helicopter rescue of the elderly couple Sunday afternoon.
Laura, you live in Odessa? I have some family that still live in that area.
