Home today--Speedometer problem

Just got home after an extended trip to Fort Knox KY. An hour out on BGK the speedometer stopped working.Took cable out and found it full of water again (I had cleaned and greesed it last year), and the cable was broke in two. EVERYBODY-Check your cable for water. At the rally they recommended sealing the top of sleeve.Aparently thats where the water enters. They Rally was awhsome.

Re: Home today--Speedometer problem

In all the miles I put on my three Voyagers, I never found water in the speedo cable.

Re: Re: Home today--Speedometer problem

Glad you made it home safe.
The speedo cable on John's bike broke on the way to BG.

DS, But how many speedos did you have break in all those Voyager years, & were they rusty where they broke at the 2 to 6 inch from the bottom end spot where they broke?

Re: Re: Re: Home today--Speedometer problem

I think I went through about 4 or 5 speedo cables. However, none of them had any rust on them.
