BOSTON (AP) – A Boston man accused of fatally stabbing a taxi
driver during a robbery has been convicted and sentenced to life in
prison.
Jurors on Tuesday convicted 22-year-old Cleveland Martin of
felony murder and armed robbery in the Aug. 25, 2005, killing of
31-year-old Heureur Previlon, a native of Haiti who was studying to
be a Baptist minister.
Prosecutors say Martin and another man charged in the killing,
Jashawn Robinson, called Bay State Taxi of Brookline requesting a
ride because the company's taxis did not have partitions between
the front and back seats and they intended to rob the driver.
After two drivers refused them, Previlon drove the men to
Boston's Brighton neighborhood. Prosecutors said the men then
robbed and fatally stabbed Previlon.
