A question about licensing

To Whom It May Concern:

This is an open letter to the city of Chicago and its aldermen. I am a resident of Northwest Indiana and I would like to drive a cab in the city, but I do not want to change my driver's license from Indiana to Illinois as required by city ordinance - it would take too much to change.

I have a license that permits me to drive either a limo or a cab here in Indiana and that should be good enough to drive a limo or cab in the city. The ordinance could state that - if a person has the right license to operate a cab or limo from their home state, from an Illinois border state, or even from an area 150 miles or less from Chicago - that person can operate a cab or limo in Chicago.

Re: Reader Opinions

Good letter. In NYC a driver can have a regular drivers license from NY., NJ., or Conn. I also suggest that a drivers license from the tri state area should suffice for Chicago.
