Police charge man with killing Syracuse cabbie

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) – Police are charging a 20-year-old Syracuse man with fatally shooting a cab driver.

Cabbie Timothy Gordon died Saturday afternoon. Police didn't even know he had been shot until he was taken to University Hospital early Friday morning following a car crash in an upscale Syracuse neighborhood. Doctors at the hospital discovered the 29-year-old Syracuse man had been shot in the head.

Police charged Denny DeJesus with second-degree murder late Saturday. Two of DeJesus' companions told police they planned to stiff Gordon on the cab fare and ran off when he stopped at their destination.

DeJesus stayed in the car, and the men said they heard a gunshot as they were running away.

Police could not say if DeJesus has an attorney.
