Pace has announced it will delay mailing the new swipe card TAP vouchers until April 24, giving it more time to work with independent owner-operators and smaller affiliations on correctly processing the new swipe card technology.
“We want to make sure we’re covering the vast majority of ways to process [electronic swipe card vouchers],” said Patrick Wilmot, Pace spokesman.
Wilmot said one viable processing option may be through an automated phone system. He expects more than 90 percent of Chicago’s taxis will be ready to process the new vouchers when they’re mailed to TAP riders. As for the rest, Wilmot said Pace will keep working to provide processing options for every Chicago taxi.
