As of 12:01 a.m. Tuesday, June 9th, a $0.50 fuel surcharge will be applicable.
A sign provided by the Department, indicating the $0.50 surcharge, must be posted in the passenger compartment for a driver to charge the surcharge. Signs are available at the Public Vehicle Division offices, 2350 W. Ogden. Any driver who charges an unauthorized surcharge amount is subject to a minimum $100 fine.
Today, Monday, June 8th, is the seventh consecutive business day that the cost of regular reformulated gasoline in the Chicago Metropolitan Statistical
Area has been above $2.70. As stated in MCC 9-112-510, after gas prices are above $2.70 for seven consecutive business days, drivers may charge
a $0.50 fuel surcharge.

This is stupid and another insult by city.
50 cents is less than what a stranger would give to a homeless begger on street.
Instead of fooling around, the city should stop registering more new cab drivers at Harold Washington college. because city is flooded with too many cabs. Give a decent meter increase it promised last year. stop the unfair credit card ordinance.
