FUEL SURCHARGE TO EXPIRE

In accordance with section 9-112-510 of the Municipal Code of Chicago, as of MIDNIGHT tonight, Thursday, July 23, the taxicab fuel surcharge expires and drivers are no longer authorized to charge a fuel surcharge. Gasoline prices published by AAA’s Daily Fuel Gauge Report for the Chicago Metropolitan Statistical Area have been below $2.70 for seven consecutive business days.

Taxicabs MUST remove surcharge signage by Friday, July 24th. Failure to remove signage may result in fines of not less than $100 nor more than $500 for each offense.

Please contact the Public Vehicle Division at 312-746-4300 with any questions.

Surcharge is good for nothing. Too bad George wasn't in favor of a raise when the economy was good......
