hi everyone, if you know the city of chicago ordinance that provides for 3 minutes pick-up and drop-off within the city limits, please either post it here or send it to the above email. I need it for my upcoming court hearing. if you can include the code number that would be awsome. thanks for your help.

Re: Re: law - here it is...

Here are the relevant ordinances you requested.

Section 9-64-180b of the Municipal Code provides that no cars may park in the central business district from 6am to 6pm, except for any taxicab at an officially designated taxicab stand and any passenger vehicle engaged in for not more than three minutes in the loading or unloading of passengers.

Section 9-48-060a says the driver of any taxicab shall not stop such vehicle upon any business street at any place other than a taxicab stand, except for the expeditious loading or unloading of passengers or when necessary to avoid conflict with other traffic or in compliance with the directions of a police officer, traffic control aide or traffic sign or signal; provided, however, that this section shall not apply when the taxicab is not occupied, not for hire or otherwise lawfully parked.

Section 9-48-060b of the Municipal Code says that no driver involved in the expeditious loading or unloading of passengers shall be charged with a violation of any parking ordinance contained in this code unless such driver fails to move his vehicle after having been directed by a police officer or traffic aid to do so.

If you have an "Obstruction of Traffic" ticket, 9-64-020 says it shall be unlawful to stand or park any vehicle upon any street in such a manner or under such conditions as to leave available less than 18 feet of the width of the roadway for free movement of vehicular traffic on a two way street or less than ten feet of width of the roadway for free movement of vehicular traffic on a one way street.
