Taxi drivers at Cleveland airport threaten strike

CLEVELAND (AP) – Taxi drivers are threatening a strike to protest a plan to limit the number of taxi companies at Cleveland Hopkins International Airport.

Darlene Everett is president of the Professional Taxi Driver's Association. She said the group's members will picket and will refuse to pick up passengers between 8 a.m. and noon Wednesday.

The group is upset over a planned overhaul of cab service at Hopkins that will allow just three companies to pick up passengers.

Four other companies are being excluded.

City Council approved the plan last year. Passengers and city officials had complained of a glut of cabs at the airport and poor service.
