The Dangers of Hustlers

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Philadelphia police are investigating four robberies of taxicab passengers.

Police say the victims entered a cab that had a front-seat passenger in addition to the driver. They were forced to withdraw money from ATMs and give it to the robbers.

The robbers used a black-and-white Ford Crown Victoria with a logo on it with white lettering. It had a cab light on top. Police aren't sure if it's a real taxi or a car made to look like a taxi.

Police say cabdrivers generally shouldn't have a front-seat passenger when they're working. Police advise people using cabs to look for the taxi license and medallion number and take note of it.

Re: The Dangers of Hustlers

Now people in Philadelphia will be afraid to take cabs. That's a real shame especially if it's not even a real cab, which I bet it isn't.

Re: Re: The Dangers of Hustlers

The presumtion that cab users "Know" what real cabs look like is obviously incorrect. Factor in the common use of taxi's by a person and regular distractions we all face, getting into a cab when the situation just seems off might be unavoidable. Were these passengers on their cell phones when they got in? We need to educate all of our passengers to the details a REAL taxi serving thier area will have. Lettering Logo Phone numbers Medallion location and the like - then our customer will be better informed and make good choices with and for us.
