We must do more than just talk about the issues, Ahmed R.

Ahmed R.,

We must do more than just talk about the issues.

This is where the personalities of who is doing what to solve the problems are just as relevant as subjects in this Discussion Forum.

What is the most important issue facing the majority of Chicago cabdrivers, Ahmed R., and what can we do about it?

I agree. Lets talk about the issues. Gas prices at record highs. The surcharge not being effective. It just comes out of my tip on any long fare. Thats where we burn the most fuel, yet do not get anything extra. Hot weather meaning the Ac must be on. More fuel wasted. A passenger reading the new surcharge sign and rate sheet and laughing at me saying they should complain to the city about me since the taxi doesn't have any leg room due to the partition. Three parking fly by tickets in the last two months. 200 people wating at terminal 5 the other day yet the starter refuses my share ride request. The rider had no bags or other people with him. Again it seems like 200 were waiting. Getting yelled at at the inspection facility for opening my trunk in the line to add washer fluid. I almost got a citation when this happened recently. The new rate sheet, surcharge signs just advertise that if we don't kiss the customers behind they should call the city and complain. I don't even go by Division Wells anymore late at night due to the fact the city has an undercover police waiting there to make sure any driver he sees and can stop gets a citation. I got one once from him for not having a small window sticker from the second period inspection. This was in March! He also gave me a hard time for not having my hard card light off during the day! When will we sue for all of the 50.00 reinspection fees to be refunded? How are these for issues!

Re: We must do more than just talk about the issues, Ahmed R.

yes, we must BEG about the issues.

now there is an original idea: begging for success.

Yah, Ahmed, can you BEG like him?

Re: We must do more than just talk about the issues, Ahmed R.

I don't see how crooked teeth have anything to do with this. Crooked starts with city hall and the best crooks reside there. We need to root these guys out. The fact Chicago made the olympic final four just screws us up more. I can work with Jason Alexander, George Costanza, Kramer, can't think of someone like Mike, etc. Get the idea. The guy can have blue skin. I don't care. George get over it if you're upset. We need a united front. I am starting to see that it will never happen. Perhaps Melissa was the best at getting action.

As you can probably see, I do know the issues. I can alomst predict how the city will mess us up next. Why are you insisting on talking about personal issues when it's our working conditions and terms that need to improve. I can care less about your teeth Mike.

The biggest issue right now is the costs of doing business vs. what we can charge. The abuses the city dishes out every day can be delt with as soon as we can make a living without turning out 16 hour days. I was out from 5am til 8pm tonight. I went home after I almost passed out. I guess I'm better than some. Some work until they drop. I don't sleep in my cab. When it will be necessary, I'll sell. We need a raise in the rate of fare!

Okay, bilder

Okay, bilder,

I agree with you. The issues should be discussed more.

Unfortunately, "people" involved with the "issues" are sometimes as relevant as the issues themselves.

I am trying to warn you about certain people you should know because they are doing things or making plans that could affect you in a negative way.

Some of them simply want to react to my truth-telling by pointing out my crooked teeth.

Which of us do you really have a problem with, again?
