Midway Muslims

This message is going out to all cabdrivers, but especially to Muslim drivers who work at Midway Airport.

As every driver who works Midway knows the Chicago Dispatcher has a rack for its newspapers in the little building at the Midway staging area where drivers buy stamps.

We used to fill the rack from bottom to top with the Chicago Dispatcher to meet the demand for the newspaper there. However some of the Muslim drivers at Midway wanted to use the bottom of our rack to store their prayer rugs. We happily agreed and were proud to permanently leave this space open for the use of prayer rugs and prayer schedules exclusively.

Unfortunately some people have been very disrespectful by removing these prayer rugs and placing their own literature there. This is very disrespectful, not only to the Chicago Dispatcher, but also to the Muslims at Midway who we have given the right to this space for their exclusive use for their prayer rugs.

I am calling on all drivers to be mindful of this issue. The top of our rack at Midway airport is for the Chicago Dispatcher alone and the bottom of the rack is reserved for prayer rugs and schedules and nothing else.

If you see our rack being used for any other purpose, please remove the clutter from the rack and notify me immediately.

Be advised that no other literature is to be placed in our racks or newspaper boxes without our express written consent.

Chicago Dispatcher
