It's just unfortunate that I have to waste my time on these kinds of activities when I'd rather be spending my time covering and supporting cabdriver organizations interested in progress and unity.

I happened to get my copy of the second UTCC Voice today. It was very well done. Since when is the UTCC not interested in progress and unity? In fact the issues identified by the UTCC Voice seem to mirror my own. I have never attended a UTCC meeting and have not had a serious pow wow with anyone there.
There was an open UTCC meeting held today that invited all to come. This addresses unity. All were welcome/invited. Progress starts with identifing the issues, forming plans/possible solutions, and then taking necessary action. This is what the UTCC is doing. They have welcomed my suggestions. The UTCC works with an attorney, the AFSC, and many drivers. This is by far the most complete effort I've ever seen in my years of driving.
George L would like all to run the plans by him first. He actually previously said: you should have run this by us first( about the current lawsuit). I guess us means the Dispatcher. George L doesn't have any kind of drivers organization that I know of. Some say the CCO is the same. I still am looking for the election results and look forward to meeting the other CCO members. After all George says the CCO is a real quality organization. George L knows all. Remember, the Dispatcher is actually a business, not an impartial reporter of the taxi industry here in Chicago. I have lost faith in George as of late. He isn't/cannot be impartial.
Lastly, Another George quote: But I will be watching and will be keeping them (UTCC) honest as I've already been doing. That's my job.
Never knew you were police George. Is the taxi driving just a cover? Or are you really King Ritchie Rich in disguise? My advice, move back to Des Plaines, publically throw in any city newspaper license I suspect you don't even have, and start addressing the real issues. The top 100 or so start with these words: City of Chicago Dept. of Consumer Service. Then we can get started on the fly by tickets......

Naturally. You see this organization as competition to your own publication. Back in my early days when there were few taxi associations I thought business was OK. I was fearful that when the new affiliations started business would suffer. There are now many associations and many more cabs (think lottery) on the street than in the early 80's. It seems like 2000 more cabs in service every day. However, the business is still there. I get the same amount of fares or even more than then. My only gripe is that we're just about giving free rides at these very low rates of fare. In ten or twenty more years there might be more than two newspapers directed at taxi drivers in the area. You are still young at 37 and still might be doing this. And perhaps even doing well.
When you started the Dispatcher it was aimed at all drivers in the metro area as I remember it. You since have moved to be a city only publication. Your loss. Just like it will be your loss to fight the UTCC. Welcome your competition, it will only make you stronger. That is unless you wanted to be the bully on the block. Then I guess tears are in order. These "other" guys aren't going away any time soon George. Man up and shake hands. You're starting to go down the same street Mike did. You never win friends this way. Never.
Mr Nathan, Robbery doesn't have to come by way of someone using a firearm. The city robs us in broad daylight without weapons.

Glad you're an ally of the UTCC. As you might have read here before, they are not afraid to take "the gloves off." Kind of like you and the MAG seven! I admire those that aren't afraid of city hall. The seven guys really put their names on the line to help us. In one act more was done for our cause than the whole board of promises, thoughts, fighting, etc. that is done here. Again, Thank You Mr. Nathan for helping in a fashion that has already gotten the attention of the transportation commissioner!
