TAXICAB INDUSTRY NOTICE

November 13, 2008


EXPIRATION OF FUEL SURCHARGE


In accordance with section 9-112-510 of the Municipal Code of Chicago, as of Thursday, November 13, the taxicab fuel surcharge expires at midnight and drivers are no longer authorized to charge a fuel surcharge. Gasoline prices published by AAA’s Daily Fuel Gauge Report for the Chicago Metropolitan Statistical Area have been below $2.70 for seven consecutive business days.

Taxicabs MUST remove surcharge signage. Failure to improperly display signage may result in fines of not less than $100 nor more than $500 for each offense.
