The triple witching

Why do you suppose Sunday was picked to be the strike date?

I suppose AFSC would say that's a day that the city would feel it the most. But do you want to know the real reason?

The AFSC/UTCC does not have the support it needs for the strike. They know that. So they called it on a day that has been historically so busy that O'Hare is naturally a drive-through.

You see, lots of drivers drop their cabs before Thanksgiving for a week or two - at least through the weekend usually. That's one.

The Sunday after Thanksgiving is when a lot of travelers come back from the long weekend causing O'Hare and Midway to be madhouses with lines of people waiting for cabs. That's two.

Sunday is also the first day of the RSNA show which is one of the biggest conventions of the year and is the day when a lot of people fly in for the show. That's three.

So, given the lack of supply of cabs dues to drivers dropping for the holiday and the increased demand for cabs because of the weekend travelers coming back and the beginning of the RSNA show, people are going to have trouble getting cabs. That's how it's been for years. Even if every cab in the city works, it will be a busy day. So when O'Hare is drive-through, the AFSC/UTCC will say it's because of their strike, when in reality, few will strike.

That's the triple witching.

thats right and they will call it as a victory for themselves

Re: The triple witching

Haha! You are already finding a way to play down the strike, which you have figured out will be very successful... after just one day of distributing anti-strike flyers and being cursed out all day.

So George is it a better idea to strike on a day when there is almost no business out there? Reyes would LOVE that!

SHAME ON YOU, SCAB!

join the strike!

Re: Re: The triple witching

James, few will strike. Your masters at the AFSC know that. The city already called your bluff when your masters said the city was going to be "paralyzed" two weeks ago. They didn't have the support and they knew it. Just about every driver I've talked to has said they hope the strike is successful. That's because they want to make a lot of money because they don't plan to strike.

They picked a busy day because they're desperate for a victory and this is the only way they can show it because they don't have the support.

They rented a bus and begged drivers to come with them and still only got about 24.
