Knock On Hubs

Help. I have just finished my Henley Pastiche TFBrbuild and while towing it to DVLA for final sign off lost a wheel - ouch.
The knock on/off wheelnuts are fitted so that they tighten in the direction of the wheel rotation ie Clockwise on the offside and counterclockwise on the nearside.
MuchGoogling has left me confused as there seems to be no concensus but I'm thinking that the nuts have been fitted on the wrong sides?
Can anyone point me to an expert for advice?
Thanks
Brian

Re: Knock On Hubs

Hi Brian - a tadge embarrassing - hopefully no great harm done.
No expert myself but I have flagged this to others and hopefully you will next some input - Chris

Re: Knock On Hubs

The nuts should tighten in the opposite direction to which the wheel turns, ie left hand thread on the right hand (drivers) side.
Cheers
John

Re: Knock On Hubs

Hi Brian
John is correct, the nuts should tighten in the opposite direction to normal rotation. Often the spinners are engraved with 'Undo' with an arrow and it is this which points in the direction of rotation.
I understand you have recently joined the club - welcome.
