Re: fuel gauge

Hi John

Fuel guages are basically ammeters so connecting a power supply should make the neeedle move. The tank sender unit is a variable resister so this varies the current flowing in the circuit and therefore affects the position of the needle

hope this helps

cheers
Jeremy

Re: fuel gauge

please correct me if im wrong but I think fuel senders work on earthing rather than power?? so I would put ignition on and then earth the wire that go's to the sender and if the gauge reads full then the gauge is ok and the problem lies with the sender.... regards john

Re: fuel gauge

Yes quite right. I should have made that comment in my reply

cheers
Jeremy
