Paint dilemma

Hi

I bought the red NG TF previously on the For Sale section from Jim Rattray just before Christmas. It was built between 1993-8 by Roy Avery. I have some documents but no paint code, I don't think Jim knows. My red looks like a dead ringer to the car used as the header for the NG home page. Anyone got an ideas what the colour is? It's metallic. Need to touch up some minor scratches under the rear valance - might be best to take the valance off and respray if I can get a good match.

Otherwise the car looks good apart from a few dry joints in the earth wiring loom and the engine breather tube has no hose connections or PCV attached. Fumes come back to the driver.

I've joined the club, waiting for papers to come through

Re: Paint dilemma

Hi Paul

See the earlier posts re Winter Activities.

I think most builders just chose a colour they liked so even if you think your paint colour is the same as another car, be aware it probably wont be. Actual colour matching with your vehicle is the only way.

Happy NGing

Dave

Re: Paint dilemma

Hi. If you have a local vehicle paint supplier, take a body part (that has not had sunlight on it), there is a chance they will have a spectrometer, or know a company who has. It will analyse the paint and give them a paint code to work to. They can then mix it for you.
Don't know where you live, but these guys are good. www.auto-paint.co.uk

Re: Paint dilemma

Thanks for your assistance both, looks like it might be Jaguar Bordeaux metallic, going to try a sample shortly where it's concealed right under the rear valance , otherwise it'll be the colour matching.
