1.8 marina spigot bearing bush

Hi again, just fitting the Marina spigot bearing bush and spigot bearing itself and have tapped the outer bush in but it has not reached the collar near the bottom of the crank.
Is this normal? I've inspected the old Marina crank and it only seems to have the 1 collar so have no idea why it won't drive down to the collar on the new engine.. The bush tapped in to the current position as easily as one would expect i.e. firm but not vicious tapping with hammer on right size socket. help please beore I try to get out a bigger percussive maintenance tool!!
Thanks

Re: 1.8 marina spigot bearing bush

As long as the input shaft from the gearbox fits in, it should be fine.

Most of the time the flywheel and the input shaft run at the same speed anyway.

Cheers

Re: 1.8 marina spigot bearing bush

cheers. i looked at the crank on the old engine in decent light and could see that the bush had not sat at the bottom of the hole (nice rust line for a witness mark). Clutch now on as well as new alternator and shiny black ancillarie< Just waiting for a good couple of days weather wise when not working so I can drag the car out to the tripod and fit the bloomin thing.
Regards
