UP FOR A CHALLENGE

Toby and I have decided to see what brass monkeys feel like!
We intend setting off from Pickering in Toby's car (no hood or windscreen) and driving to Lands End, John o Groats, Pickering without an overnight stop. We intend doing it for a charity, hopefully nominated by the former owner of the car. If anyone is mad enough to join us they are welcome, please get in touch and we can work out the logistics, 01751 476307.
We will keep you all posted and will investigate the options of live updates etc, any constructive decisions would be greatfully received.

Re: UP FOR A CHALLENGE

Well !! - you don't aim to do anything easy - do you ??
What time of year are you planning to do this ?
Using Motorways (not much fun) 1800miles and say 31hours driving time plus stops
Non-Motorways route 1900miles and 41hours driving.
Without a stopover his would be quite a feat in a modern saloon let alone in an open NG.
Perhaps not constructive - but I would be concerned that sleep deprivation might have a safety issue and that the hardship level might minimise the 'fun factor', which would be a pity.
In total it is way to arduous for Su and me - but we would be keen to catch you for a south-west leg en-route. Perhaps other NG'ers who couldn't cope with the whole journey might meet you for their 'local legs'.
In any event we wish you Bon Voyage and will be pleased to 'sponsor'
And ChangiNGear would be keen to have an 'event report'

Re: UP FOR A CHALLENGE

Yes I'd agree with Chris, a bit of a marathon. The very best of luck if you do attempt it. I would also join you for a southwest section, perhaps we could run a convoy!

Re: UP FOR A CHALLENGE

Hi Guys, When do you plan to do this run? Might be interested in joining you for some of South east bit for moral support. I think a summer trip would be a challenge enough but in the depths of winter would push the fun factor over the edge. The rain is not so much of a problem as it is sometimes warmer in the summer but ice, snow and fog would kill the fun...

Re: UP FOR A CHALLENGE

Mrs T talked some sense in to us boys. As a result we will be postponing this till late spring next year. There are now two cars doing the trip, both from the Tyler residence, my boss has expressed interest as well as my uncle. Went for a trial run yesterday round upper tees dale. All were very enthused. A few little jobs to get sorted before the run but now with plenty of time to do it it should be fine. Look forward to hearing from you all.

Regard Toby
