Re: NGTCV8 rear suspension and exhaust clearance

Hi Martin,

As I do not know what suspension set-up you have I will start from the standard MGB with lever-arm dampers.
Change to telescopic dampers these reduce but cannot eliminate the tramping.
Most MGB specialists, who sell tuning parts, supply various types of bolt on anti-tramp bars which usually fit under the front half of the springs.
TCR chassis and maybe later V8 chassis should have mounting points for the MGB rear anti-roll bar as fitted to late MGBs. Fitting the anti-roll bar effectively provides 2 top links that eliminate tramping. (you need a late MGB axle with the anti-roll bar mounts or maybe a bolt on conversion exists?)

The exhaust headers should be to an NG pattern to allow the maximum lock, and then it is still likely that you need to fit some jubilee clips to the rack to restrict steering movement and reduce your lock. Big engine with big wheels = reduced lock, to compensate you need to fit a limited slip diff then you can use the throttle to steer!

regards
Mark

Re: Re: NGTCV8 rear suspension and exhaust clearance

I will have a look under the car at the weekend.
I did not build the car, all I know is it was based on a 1968 MGB.
I found the John Hoyle website, set up looks good, but at £1,500+ for the rear and about the same for the front, will have to find cheaper way for the time being.
I don't have big wheels on it 205/70/15 tyres. I have thought about shortening the front mudguard stays to help clearence. At the moment steering look is rubbish.
All part of the fun of kitcars.
