Wheel size.

Really, the original 13" Sierra steel whells just don't cut it...

Can anyone tell me the max size of wheels that can be fitted (it's a Henley)?

I know that as you increase wheel size, you normally compensate by fitting lower profile tyres but I'd want to avoid low profiles as I think a good bit of visible tyre suits these cars.

It would help me to know which combinations of wheels/tyres others have used, and how well they fit the arches. Thanks.

Re: Wheel size.

Hi Donnie,
I have a couple of pages from my "NG" build manual that suggest we can use up to 17" wheels with lower profile tyres. However, I am fairly sure most owners have used the 5.5J 15" MGC/TR6 spoked wheels. It is really personal taste in the end, there are lots of our cars out there using alloy, steel and spoked wheels and all look equally as good.

P.s If I work out how to use my scanner, I may be able to e.mail the pages to you.

Re: Re: Wheel size.

Thanks, Mark.

Yes, the cars are very forgiving when it comes to wheels - a look at the gallery on this site reveals a wide selection of successful styles.

I suspect cost will dictate alloys will have be used in my case, although I think I'll try and keep highish profile tyres as this looks more traditional.

I wonder if I can squeeze in 16" wheels...

Re: Re: Re: Wheel size.

Oh, and thanks for the offer of sending the scans - if it contains technical info, then that could well be useful. However, I have found a site that gives overall diameters for various wheel and tyre profile combinations, so this may be all I need.

Cheers.
