Yep - I have a filter king fitted - it was a bit clogged and I couldn't get a replacement filter locally so I've removed the filter and added a inline filter. There were also fiters on the inlets to the carb and a filter in the fuel pump.

I'm not sure where the water got in, I can't imagine it was already in with the petrol. I think the seal on the filler is not so good now and it is a flush mounted filler so water runs down the back of the car and into the gaps round the filler, which then goes into the tank if you open the filler.

There are such things a fuel/water seperators but now I know the problem it's easy to fix.
