Luggage Rack

Hi,

I have bought a secondhand luggage rack to fit to a NG TF. However, the car is in Exeter, the rack is in Reading and I am in Singapore! And all three won't be in the same place until two days before setting off for the Pyrenees.

So I would like to know if the orginal rack came with a drawing showing dimensions as to where to drill the four holes. It may be obvious, but I won't know until I see the rack and the car together. If it is not obvious, then it wil be tool late to ask the Forum. Any help would be apprciated.

Cheers

David

Does the original come with a drawing with dimenensions

Re: Luggage Rack

Hi mate, dont wan't to be disingenuous but if you cant work out how to find the point for four holes, how are you going to decide how to reinforce to compensate for the load and wind loading on what you will be carrying on it?
Sorry if this sounds negative.

Re: Re: Luggage Rack

Hi Mel,

Yes it probably is straight forward, but I did not build the car and I just don't want to be caught out by something unexpected (like having to remove a fuel tank to get to fit the nut). I will have a short time to fit this before I leave and I have a bunch of other things to check. The car nearly emptied the sump through a ruptured oil gauge feed on the last trip!

Re: Luggage Rack

Hi David
Just fit it centrally over the spare wheel, I don't think you should have any problem. If it is like the one NG supply with two hinged brackets and two wing nut brackets, use rubber tap washers under each 'leg' to protect the paintwork outside and a penny washer behind to spread the load.
Good luck.

Re: Re: Luggage Rack

Chris,
Thanks. All I wanted to hear was that it was straight forward and that there would be no surprises. I only have one day to fit the rack (which I have not yet seen).
Cheers
Dave
