TCV8 radiator

Hi
My TCV8 is fitted with a radiator with a hole that allows the water pump pulley hub to pass through.
Is this normal or is my radiator mounted too far back and needs the hole?

Thanks

Martin

Re: TCV8 radiator

Hi Martin
If memory is still working it was because of the SD1 water pump nose lenght (and maybe the c**p engine mounts).
Hole will not help with cooling, and if you drive hard it would be better to fit a pre SD1 pump and better radiator.

Re: Re: TCV8 radiator

Yes I have had some cooling problems and the engine is out of an SDI. Looks like a new waterpump and radiator are on the cards.

Re: Re: Re: TCV8 radiator

The reason is, as Mel said, because the length of the pullez on the older V8s is too long for the very limited space and a hole had to be cut in all the radiators as standard. You can now get a slimmer pulley which allows for a full rad.

Oil coolers also help cooling a lot.
