Anyone help?

I have a marina based TA that the speedo does not work - after looking at the back of the dash the cable end seems to have a plastic end that may have cliped into the back of the original spedo.... but not onto the back of the smiths replacement I now have on the dash - also this clip is broken and is caked in tape!

How easy is it to replace the cable and would a new morris marina spedo cable clip onto the smiths spedo?
