Distributor drive gear

Hello all,

I'm currently stripping down my engine and have two pieces that I can't get out of the block. The first is the distributer drive gear. Both my manuals say to screw in a bolt nd pull the gear out. I've tried this but although the bolt goes in ok, the drive won't just pull out. Am I missing something here? The other item is the camshaft, but I think that may be because the drive gear is still in there

Re: Distributor drive gear

The camshaft won't come because of the distributor gear. If you turn the camshaft does the bolt turn?
It has to twist as it comes out. There is also a retaining plate with a single screw holding the drive in. Are you sure this has been removed? Maybe loads WD40 down the shaft. Should be straightforward.I suspect you have missed something.

Re: Distributor drive gear

You're absolutely right - I haven't removed the plate. I can't believe I didn't spot that. Stupid or what?

Thanks
