Exhausting stuff.

Ok, I haven't started renovating my NG yet, and that has a full stainless steel system in any case...

This is about my Marlin: I have just fitted a side-exit system to it, using a 'Polyzhaust' silencer which is made from SS and... plastic!

It's a tad loud, tho', being a through-flow 'box, so I'm looking at alternatives.

Does anyone know of anyone who has used a bike silencer on a kit car?! I know it's been done quite a few times, but have yet to hear (pardon the pun) how well it works.

A 1,000cc bike running at 10k rpm would - I'd have thought - have a pretty similar volume of exhaust gas passing through it as a 2L Pinto rumbling at 5k rpm?

Also, many of these bikes tend to just have a single 'box muffling the whole bike (there's hardly room for 3 boxes and a mile of pipework...), so they must be pretty good at the job, I'd have thought?

Any thoughts/suggestions would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

This may provide a little light reading about silencer's.
