Waterpump Headlights and stuff

I had a waterleak in the TF last week which I yesterday tracked to the union between the rubber radiator hose and the waterpump.

On removing the hose, I discovered that the Aluminium pipe on the pump was severely corroded, so, rather than bodge it, I have ordered a new pump from Rimmer Bros for the Rover 2.6 engine.

The tricky bit is that, it seems that I will need to remove the wings in order to get the side panels off of the engine (annoying) and probably the nose/radiator too. Right now I am stuck on figuring out how to open up the headlamp shell so that I can unbolt it from the wing.

Can anyone please lend advice?

If it is always going to be a pain like this, I can see me fitting Cycle wings like the Beautiful TF in the Aug Copy of Kit Car Magazine.

Regards,

Ian

Re: Waterpump Headlights and stuff

I've just fitted headlamps to my TF. If they are the same there is a small screw underneath the Chrome ring. Once this is undone the rim should pull forward from where the screw was and lift off. Yours may be different however.

Re: Re: Waterpump Headlights and stuff

Mine is slightly different Ian. Well, they are kit cars. On the underside of the chrome bezel is a slot that you press a flat bladed screwdriver into. That releases a flat metal spring that allows the bezel to come away (watch the paint on the bowl). The headlamp internal housing is held in place by simple retaining screws. That provides access to the large nut and bolt that both fixes the headlamp housing to the badge bar and wings.

Kind regards, John.

Thankyou both.

On closer inspection, someone has drilled a small hole through the wing to take a screw driver, so I concur that there must be a screw or slot or some such. I will take a look at the weekend, thanks!
