CID Circular - April 2006
1. Free space to exhibitors at the 20th World Dance Congress
Suppliers can exhibit free of charge and sell at the Congress articles of interest to dancers, such as dancewear, books, CDs, costumes, shoes, accessories, floors etc. No rent or any other charges. The Congress will take place at the covered 3500 seat stadium by the sea built for the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens.
2. Children's festival in Romania
Folklore festival for children and youth in Western Romania, 8-14 August 2006, invites ensembles from all countries.
3. Mediterranean folk festival in Cyprus
Ensembles of up to 30 persons from all Mediterranean countries are invited to a festival-competition in Larnaca, 26-28 November 2006. Applications with a DVD or VHS. Prizes of 2000, 1500 and 1000 Cyprus pounds.
4. Folk festival in Greece
Folk dance festival in Epirus, Greece, 14-16 July 2006 invites ensembles.
5. Festival in Spain
Celebrating its 20 years, the folk festival invites ensembles from all over the world to send applications. On the island of Mallorca 10-14 April 2007.
6. Tap dancers needed, USA
Company in Texas offers 32 week paid contract for the 2006-2007 season.
7. Hip hop competition in Italy
Crews from throughout the globe will be competing for street dance supremacy and prize money: 1-3 June 2006 in Torino. Top ranking Italian crews will be selected to represent Italy at the official World Championship set for July 28-30 in Los Angeles, USA.
8. Fellowships for dance criticism, U.S.A.
Specifically designed for professionals interested in further developing their analysis of dance, while additionally shaping their personal writing style. 24 June to 18 July 2006. Fellowships cover tuition, room, board, transportation to and from the conference, and tickets to performances.
9. Project financing
European foundation is seeking proposals for initiatives to be financed. Thematic priorities for 2006 include music and other cultural/artistic creation that supports intercultural dialogue between the 35 European and Mediterranean countries.
10. Travel grants
To support exchange and partnerships between theatre professionals in the USA and their counterparts in Russia and Eastern and Central Europe. These grants award theatres and individuals (artists, administrators or educators) $2,500 each to cover transportation, living expenses, research materials, communication costs, theatre tickets and/or the services of an interpreter.
11. Grants to dancers, U.S.A.
Dancers nominated by their company directors or their university professors can apply for grants of 5,000 to 25,000 US dollars. Deadline 1 May 2006. Also choreography fellowships of 10,000 US dollars each.
12. Residency in Japan
Available to dancers from the USA wishing to spend 6 months in Japan.
13. Latin American dance group wanted
Organizer seeks a professional Latin American dance group of 6 persons to perform daily from 01 June till 30 September 2006 in Turkey. Provides fees, flight tickets, visa expenses, all transportations, accommodation and full board.

15. Female contemporary dancer wanted
Female contemporary dancer with knowledge of traditional Indian dance, for touring in Japan. One or two years' contract starting October 2006. Audition by invitation. Deadline 30/07/2006.
