The 3rd ed. of my SAE book "Brake Design and Safety" will be published soon (scheduled for June/July 2011).

The newly instituted brake design workshop is now on the website and will make direct references to the 3rd edition. The third workshop, extending over a longer time, will deal with brake temperatures, both analytical and computer-based finite difference formulations. Your feedback is always welcomed. I hope to address some of the brake temperature challenges faced in connection with drum brakes on heavy truck and trailers, as well as using high-BF drum brakes for hybrid and fully electric vehicles to reduce weight.
