Can I tackle you on another point now?! It would be useful for me to know the overall height of your screen and frame (very envious, by the way...), from the bodywork to the very top edge, at around the middle of whole thing.

Ok, I'm going to push my luck further - could you also tell me the approx dimensions of the actual frame section itself (width and depth) - I was looking at using a 'U' channel of around 30x50x30, but this might be too large, thinking about it.

When you look along the top of your frame, does it have a slight curve in it (ie: higher in the middle), or is it completely flat?

The windscreen rakes back. I set my windscreen as per Page 70 of the manual, and that says 460mm approx measured from the centre of the top front lip of the screen frame to the edge of the scuttle (i.e. where the metal bonnet meets the fibreglass tub). Mine ended up at 465mm.
Yes, the windscreen curves down to the sides slightly when viewed from the front. Another dimension impossible to measure accurately due to the radiused corners and no sharp edges to use. I've just checked, and it seems to drop about 10mm (very roughly) either end.

The only part I'm not sure about is the height of the actual screen - as I don't have the build manual for that model (mine's an old Henley), the 460mm measurement doesn't mean much to me I'm afraid.

Is it possible to confirm the overall height for me, please - in the middle of the screen from where it touches the scuttle to the very top of the frame?

Can I ask you to give me an idea of the actual frame sectional size, please - ie: when you look at the frame from the side, how wide is it, and how deep is the return towards the glass? Blimey, I'm confusing myself here... What I mean is, if you were to cut through your frame uprights, what would the outside dimensions of the section (roughly) be ?! I'm worried about going for something too hefty-looking.

Sorry Donnie, but I only looked at the most recent threads and hadn't realised you'd asked another question.

My chrome over brass windscreen channel outer section dimensions are 20mm x 15mm thick.

The profile is rather like an I-Beam where the internal recess accepts the glass (or outer uprights or hood or rubber under.)

You owe me £1200 quid as I read the bit about not hacksawing the metalwork too late.

Have fun, as stuff you do yourself is so much more rewarding than buying ready made.
