Dear Cees, Thank you. I found a lot of online conversations between you and Gregory, which helped me a great deal in writing my blog about whether or not the Roosevelts really is from Zeeland and what consequences this should have for the Four freedom Awards. I hope I have done Oud-Vossemeer as much justice as the word limit allows. It is a difficult case, and I hope it will get solved once. Please have a look at it if you are interested...I have also made a Dutch version. http://persvrijheid.pzc.wegenerwordpress.nl/?p=803&preview=true |

My mother (Lovelle Frank) asked me to contact you because she wants to know if you are related to her thru a family in Zeeland, NL. She is related to Johanna Bogaart (great, great, great great grandmother) from Dinteloord North Brabant. Johanna was married to Matteus Heijer from North Brabant. My mother is curious if she is related to the Roosevelt family. Thank you! |

I'm a descendant from Johannes Willem Boogaart en I wander how the connection is with the other Boogaards? My wife is a Bierens and also this family comes from Tholen is she also related to the Boogaards? Furthermore I possess an old testament in manuscript dated in 18th century from the family Rooseveldt.(See below) Is this family also related and I want to sell this original testament from the 18th century. Do you think that there will be interest in it to buy ?? Good to see your website and the beautiful pictures. My great-great grandmother, Johanna (Snoek) Nelisse was born in Oud-Vossemeer in 1835 and came to the U.S. with her family in 1875. Her brother, Adriaan Snoek, later came to the U.S. as well. They were children of Jacobus and Jannetje (van Schetsen) Snoek. Our ancestors go back many generations on the Island of Tholen. There were also Boogert ancestors on the Nelisse side. It is my hope and dream, to someday visit Oud-Vossemeer. The Roosevelt connection is fascinating. Some of the Roosevelt family were apparently government officials in Oud-Vossemeer as well, since I have seen their signatures on village records while researching my own family. Keep up the good work! Rodney Dillon North Palm Beach, FL. U.S.A. |

Great site! I had no idea the Roosevelts were from Oud Vossemeer. I came here searching for information on my family lines that came America from Oud Vossemeer (Bierens, Roggeband, Baareman, Slager, Bogers, etc.). Interestingly, I am related to the Roosevelt's as well, though not through their Oud Vossemeer lines (she descended from De La Montagne's, as did I). I'd love to connect with families still in Oud Vossemeer that I'm related to. I see there are still phone listings for Roggeband's and Slager's there?) Scott |

Familie Pollie sinds early 1800's I am hoping to connect with 'Pollie cousins' who might be living in the Oud Vossemeer region. I have traced my famiy back to Oud Vossemeer in the early 1800's and have information to share. I cannot confirm the following but have been told a Pollie family operated a small dry goods store in this area in the late 1900's. Please contact me if you would like to share information on the Pollie family! Thank you in advance. Best Regards, Shelle |
